Compensation: $20/hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM– 4:00 PM or 8:00 AM – 5:30 PM
Dates: June 1 – June 26, 2026, Monday – Friday
Grade Levels: K–2nd, 3–5th, 6–8th

Position Summary

Learning Lab Wichita is seeking responsible and experienced individuals to serve as Summer Learning Leads for the 2026 summer programming session. Learning Leads are responsible for supervising and facilitating daily operations for a weekly cohort of students. Each week features a new theme and a new group of students. This position requires strong classroom management, reliability, and the ability to engage students in structured, pre-planned learning experiences and field trips.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise and facilitate a full day of summer camp programming for an assigned grade band.
  • Lead a daily morning meeting to welcome students, review the day’s schedule, communicate expectations, and take attendance.
  • Implement and support pre-planned learning activities, projects, and field trips.
  • Monitor student engagement and behavior to ensure a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment.
  • Maintain daily schedules and transitions to ensure activities run on time.
  • Support students in preparing for a weekly learning showcase, including assisting with reflection, organization of materials, and creation of learning artifacts.
  • Enforce Learning Lab Wichita behavior expectations and safety guidelines.
  • Communicate concerns, incidents, or student needs to Learning Lab staff in a timely manner.

Required Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with children or students in an educational, camp, or youth-focused setting
  • Ability to manage groups of 5-15 students independently and professionally
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality
  • Ability to work the full program schedule (June 1–June 26, 2026)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in education, youth development, or related field
  • Experience facilitating group activities or project-based learning
  • Experience working with elementary or middle school students

Compensation and Benefits

  • $20 per hour
  • Contract position
  • 15% discount on summer learning registration for children of employees

Physical and Work Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, and actively supervise students throughout the day
  • Ability to participate in off-site field trips and outdoor activities
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds as needed for materials or supplies

This position requires good communication, reliability, and the ability to positively engage with younger students.
